Ingrave Johnstone
This is us with our partners who showed us around.
On Tuesday the 19th of October 2010 six people from year six went to a school in Brentwood, Ingrave Johnstone primary school, to see what it was like.

The school was quite small although it did fit many people and equipment. First we had lunch which was just like ours. After we went out to play there was the adventure playground it was a play area with different types of equipment like the jungle tree, spider frame and the zigzag. Then we went in to have another tour to see the classes, the whole playground, the hall and library.

After that we went into the hall to see a drama teacher called Lesley. She taught us some sign language, Spanish and Japanese!

Working with Leslie.

Finally there a whole school sharing assembly. We had to stand up and do a silly dance to a Japanese song.
Joining in with assembly.

We found the trip really exciting and hope they will come and visit us soon.

Topic Launch - World War II

Year 6 launched their topic of the term last week. The topic is World War II.
The whole of Year 6 were gathered into the Junior Hall and listened to the sounds of an air raid siren, aeroplanes flying overhead and Neville Chamberlain telling Great Britain that the war had started.
They then watched a black and white powerpoint showing images from World War II.

The children discussed their feelings and tried to place themselves in the shoes of the people in the pictures.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the launch and appeared to be very eager to learn more!

Arts Week - July 2010

During the week of June 28th, Manford held an Arts Week. The theme of the week was The Natural World.
Year 6 decided to link the art with their study of Andy Warhol and created a colourful print of animals or plants from the forest.
They also created a picture using plants from the environmental garden and photographic paper. The children worked well and thoroughly enjoyed the tasks, as you can see from the pictures below.

Year 6 - The Apprentice Challenge!
After the hard work of the SATS tests, Year 6 are given a challenge... they have to set up and run their own business at the school's Inflatable Day.
The children were allowed to choose who they wanted to work with and they had to assign a Team Leader, Finance Manager, Advertising Manager etc. They worked very well together and all managed to run a very successful stall, all making a profit!
Well done Year 6, we are all very proud of you!
